Equity In Every Outcome
Birthwork is more than supporting pregnancy and birth, it’s about advocating for equitable care, dismantling systemic barriers, and ensuring that every birthing person has the power to make informed choices about their body, health, and future. Equity in Every Outcome: Reproductive Justice for Birthwork is an engaging and transformative workshop designed to introduce the fundamentals of reproductive justice (RJ) and its critical intersection with birthwork.
Through a deep dive into historical and systemic contexts, we’ll explore how disparities in maternal and infant health persist and how bias in healthcare and birthwork impacts outcomes. We’ll move from understanding the problem to defining reproductive justice, empowering attendees to become champions of equitable care and apply the RJ framework in their practice, advocacy, and community.
Beyond theory, this workshop provides practical steps for change, including an exploration of legislative and policy impacts, and how to engage in action and advocacy at all levels. We’ll also center self and community care for advocates, ensuring that those working for change are sustained in their efforts.
Participants will leave with tangible ways to make an impact, a call to action to take one step today, and resources for continued learning and connection. Join us in conversation with Sarah Foster - BADT trained Full Spectrum Doula, Co-Chair & Community Outreach Coordinator of CFBN - in creating a birthwork landscape where justice, dignity, and equity are not just ideals but realities for all.
Let’s do the work. Together.
